Perfect Summer Nails: Essie and New York Colors

Wednesday, July 31

Repost: I recently found this color while cleaning out my closet and decided to retry it, needless to say it's a amazing color and made me fall in love with pink all over again!

Lets first start with this beautiful shade by Essie called "Mod Square", there's only 3/4 left because I liked it so much. Essie describes this nail color as "a high-fidelity electric pink" also their nail lacquers are chip resistant, long lasting and provides flawless coverage. As well as DBP (Don't ask what this is Lol I'm unsure myself), toluene and formaldehyde free,  and is made in USA.

With all the great stuff I have to say about Mod Square there are some downsides. First the color tends to be streaky, I even tried using a base coat but it screwed with the texture to much that I had to restart.
Dry time takes forever if you apply more then one coat and last but not least it tends to have a lumpy look if you apply more then 3 coats, I applied 3 coats for the pictures and learned my lesson! Although this is a beautiful color I'd suggest buying a look-a-like color or getting it when its on sale because it retails for $8.99 a bottle.

On to one of my favorite glitter nail polishes, NYC Long Wearing Starry Silver Glitter. This glittery nail polish features a beautiful mix of colors including baby pink, navy blue, and silver. Sometimes the light catches the polish and the glitter speckles transform into different shades like purple, light blue, and copper; which I think is pretty cool for a $0.99 glitter nail polish. The only down side is the problem I have with all glittery nail polishes... they take FOREVER  to remove. I promise you it takes 3 minutes at the least to take off this color, but that's the only annoying part.

Below there's more pictures showing you the true shades, I edited all of them to show how it looks like if you were seeing them in person.

:) I love how this nail polish matches my bikini which is perfect for summer!

A girl can never have to much glitter.

  1. So pretty! I love that pink color and the sparkles are so fun!! I've never tried Essie nail polish before but I hear great things about it. My nail polish always chips after the 2nd or 3rd day. So annoying. Love the nails! : )

I freakin LOVE this manicure! By just having one glittery nail it makes it really effective.
I just recently bought my first Essie polish, it's great stuff! Really good opacity and dries quick.

  5. I love pink but I tend to go paler for fingers, or a bold color like naVy. Currently loving pale blue.

I do love this shade though...
