Changing My Point of View on Being a Beauty Blogging | Berry Personal #9

Hi everyone! Okay so I'll be the first to admit that I've been MIA (missing in action) and I know that it's unfair to everyone to abandon my blog, but for some odd reason I've had this feeling for the past few days that really put me in a bad mood. I think I had this feeling because I've received a lot more negative comments on YouTube, and even though I delete these type of comments the words shallow, fake, and untalented still stays in my head replaying over and over. As a result it kills my creativity and that kills my motivation. Deep down I know I'm not suppose to care what people think about me but I feel as though that's easier said then done.

Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I can see how they formed this opinion about me because nowadays I do mostly talk/blog about beauty products and shopping. But my blog wasn't always about material items. If you were following me for awhile you might remember a type of post I use to write called "Berry Personal". I loved this type of post but stopped writing them because I felt like readers would judge me for my life mistakes... the hilarious part is... now I have a problem where I'm being judged for the lack of personal content and originality.

*Sighs*

After some thought I realized that no matter what I do there's always going to be someone with a opinion so I'm bringing back my Berry Personal and Healthy post and might even start doing videos on these type of topics. I want to really connect with you guys and I feel like you can't really do that with beauty products or fashion items. Don't get me wrong, I'm still going to write about fashion/beauty related topics but it's not going to be the only thing my blog is about :)

Sending lots of love...
xoxo

  1. You're never going to be able to please everyone, so you should talk/post about whatever you feel like to!
I don't think it's shallow to blog about beauty products, even if that is the only thing you blog about. It's just your blog subject and something you love. Doesn't mean that it is your whole life :)

  2. Listen girly, you cannot let what these people say effect your mood or your attitude. Firstly, people take the anonymity of the internet too far, and say things they would never dare say otherwise, sometimes just saying rude things only because they can. These people are obviously very insecure and unhappy with their own lives. You can only be you, its the only person you are! Not to mention, you can please everyone - it took me a very long time to learn that lesson myself, but the sooner you come to grips with it the better. You can be the ripest juiciest peach on the tree, and there will always be someone who doesn't like peaches!
Just keep on keeping on dear, you're wonderful <3

  4. It's terrible that people have been saying those mean things to you, but I wouldn't let them bring you down or dictate what you should/shouldn't post about. After all, it's YOUR blog and YOUR YouTube channel! I think comments like that would hurt my feelings, too, but I would take it with a grain of salt. Like Kallie said below, they obviously have their own issues.

  5. Ya know what? Your blog is YOUR blog. Make it what you want and just be you!
I love visiting beauty & fashion blogs. I love visiting mommy blogs and lifestyle blogs. Sometimes I blog about beauty, and sometimes I blog about fashion, and sometimes I blog about my day to day life as a mom of a teen, or a mom of a toddler! But I blog about a little bit of everything. Because that's me. You can connect with me through beauty items any day! Or, if you wanna connect with me by sharing some deep thoughts and insight...I'm cool with that too. Hey - if all you want to do is chat about the weather one day, that's fine as well! As long as you take your blog in the direction that YOU want to go. I'm glad you posted this, because I'm glad that we as readers can encourage you. =0)

  7. I know it can be hard but please try not to let these comments affect you. There will always be people who are opinionated and happy to say things anonymously that they wouldn't dare say to your face. I love your blog...let it be your own space and do what makes you happy. We all think you're great <3

  8. I think it's a great idea to bring back your personal post, but only if you like writing them. Don't feel pressured by the people that leave nasty comments. This is your blog and you should write about the things that make you happy and that you enjoy writing about. And if this means only writing about material things, so be it. There are always going to be a few people that won't like the things you write, but there will be so many more of them who enjoy reading your blog whether it will be about beauty, fashion, or just life in general :)

  9. Do not let the negative comments get you down. I love watching you do make up, it is a real skill.

But if you feel like sharing other parts of your life experience, that is good, too!

Do what feels true to you, the right readers will respond!!

  11. I do tend to struggle with being a people-pleaser and your advice really helped me realize that not everyone is going to agree with what I do or how I do it. I agree with you I should just be who I am and ignore what people want me to be. Reading this really helped get motivated to do my best and ignore the negative comments. Thanks Kallie :)

  12. You're so right! At first I didn't even think about how people might want to tare me down just because they are having other problems. I'm glad both you and Kallie pointed that out and I'm now going to try my best to ignore the negative and focus on the positive.

  13. This is in fact on reasons why I liked your blog, because you blog about whatever you want and don't really care about what people think. And I really do admire that because it helps me get to know you better. I feel like only blogging about beauty can sometimes make me feel weird because not every aspect of my life is about beauty, I like cosmetics but I want to share other moments of my to connect with readers on a different level.
Sure I love beauty bloggers and really respect how they take so much time to know every aspect/detail of a product but I want to talk about how I feel sometimes and just be open about some moments in my life. Thank you for taking the time to help encourage me to take my blog in the direction I want it to go :)

  14. Very true, I think people say hurtful things online because they know they can hide behind anonymous and wont have any consequences for their rude remarks. I'm going to try my best to blog/vlog about what I like and not focus on the rude things others say on YT. Thank you so much for the encouragement <3

  15. Thank you so much for writing this because I did struggle with posting about every aspect of my personal life. Sure, I enjoyed writing those types of post but it always made me feel like I was like putting up a neon sign asking people to form opinions about me and my life choices. At first I felt pressured to write about only certain topics to avoid judgement, but now I understand how important it is to not focus on what others think about me. I think I'm going to bring back my personal type of post but only because it really made me happy to talk about different things going on in my life. <3

  19. I'm glad to hear that and I can't wait to read your personal post as well. And most of the time people that leave negative and judgemental comments are the people who have the most problems in their life but are just too afraid to confront them :) xx

  23. I know how difficult it can be when people do not like the work you do. It really sticks with you, I've been avoiding photography for the same reason recently. But you just have to say 'screw you' to them and do it anyway. I'm going to start it up again. You should continue to do whatever the hell you want to do! It's your blog, it's your life :)

  24. Awww, that would put me in a horrible mood as well : ( There are always those people out there that feel the need to put their negative views out for everyone to see. And I can imagine how hard it is to not take personally. But you have a lot of loyal followers who appreciate your blog and videos! Keep doing what makes you happy. That's all that matters! : )
