How to Get Flawless Makeup in 3 Steps

Wednesday, May 28

I have a confession, I rarely wear makeup (beauty bloggers, don't freak out on me!!) But when I do I usually stick to the basics. So here's three easy steps for a flawless look. And remember, no one has a flawless face, so don't obsess over it. This model was obviously photoshopped and personally I think makeup is here to enhance your natural beauty, not cover it. That being said, let's start with the first step, Prep and Prime!  :)

Step one is called Prep and Prime because this is where you wash you face and prepare it for the makeup application.

How: Start off with a clean and moisturized face. Try to use products that work with your skin type and don't to switch them too often. After that your favorite BB cream and concealer to cover up any spots. For your lips use a lip scrub (or warm wash cloth) to exfoliate and remember to replenish them with a lip balm.

Tip: Remember, solid/power concealers are usually for the face and liquid/creamy types are for under your eyes. Why? Because the soft tissue surrounding your eyes needs moisture and those icky zits srink when they are dried out, die pimples!

Suggested Moisturizing Products:

Suggested Concealer:

Step two is Color and Contour  because this is where you add some important definition some pretty color your face.

How: Decide what colors look best for your skin tone. Most lighter tones look pretty with light pinks, olive tones look gorgeous with vibrant pinks, and darker tones look beautiful in mauve colors. But remember, you can go for whatever color you like, its your makeup so chose the ones that make you happy :)

Tip: Contouring is not bronzing, therefore do not use bronzer. I say this is because most bronzers have a little glitter bits in them and to contour you need a matte color, not shimmery. Remember, highlighting is to draw attention while contouring is to define/deflect.

The last step I call Focus and Feature because this is where you decide what you would like to.. um.. focus and feature. Hehe, its pretty self explanatory.

How: What's your best feature? Is it your beautiful eyes, gorgeous smile or high cheekbones? I'm sure you have numerous amounts of stunning features but which one would you like to stand out? If it's your eye then add a bold eyeliner or mascara to make your eye pop. If you want tp draw attention to your plump lips add a bold lip liner under your lipstick.

Tip: Just remember, if you're drawing attention to one facial feature keep the others natural looking. Applying to much bight makeup to different areas will steal it's spotlight!

Suggested Products

Eye shadows for Different Eye Colors: Blue, Stila Baked Eyeshadow Trio; Green, Milani Metallic Baked Eyeshadow; Hazel & Brown, Topshop 'Lost in Time' Eyeshadow Palette.

  5. I'm a basics girl when it comes to makeup as well though I love my blush. Prepping is so important for setting a good foundation for which to apply your products.

  8. Great review and tips! Like you, I don't use make up everyday. I like BB creams because they look quite natural. Thanks for voting my entry in the LindseyMarie contest/giveaway.

  22. I agree, make-up is there to enhance natural beauty not conceal it! I think you're the first person to say that on here-at least from what I've read anyway. I usually stick to natural looks, no over the top smokey eye things on me, unless I learn how to perfect it then you'll probably see that on me so much more LOL!
